Job Description

The goal is to build systems for processing and storing data of interest for analysis and use by other systems.


Activities:
  • The candidate will be working in a team, communicating frequently through Slack and Zoom, with daily standups and weekly technical interfaces.
  • Develop ETL processes to collect and pass data between systems.
  • Design and develop information delivery projects, from simple reporting solutions to complex analytic products.
  • Develop and maintain AWS environments. ***MUST HAVE***
  • Coordinate work with other developers to create integrated systems.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop use cases; and gather, document, and implement requirements.
  • Help plan and design a flexible infrastructure to provide data management and governance in support of analytics, data visualization, BI, and integration projects.
  • Development projects related to data governance, data access, business analytics, data science.
  • Translate Excel Visual Basic into SQL processes.
  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts to implement processes and algorithms. This may involve occasional 'pair programming for some projects.

Environment:
  • The system will need to ingest, manage, govern, and access several different data types.
  • Leverage existing development environment set up in AWS - additional development should use the same methodology.
  • Integrate with and leverage current processes.
  • Leverage as much development capability from AWS services as possible. E.g., some of our processes are written in AWS Glue.
  • Comments in the developed code should be at least as much as the executable code itself.
  • Speed to efficiently incorporate and make new data available is a driving factor.
  • Minimize manual operational effort.
  • The primary work may take 6 months to complete, but there are additional tasks in the parent project which require ETL expertise.

Requirements:
  • Experience in writing SQL and database ETL processes. **MUST HAVE**
  • Experience with development in AWS, and interested in learning more.
  • Some Python experience is a plus, but we do not want a lot of coding done in Python.
  • Experience with Visual Basic a plus.
  • Must have degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • Must have 5+ years' experience in an enterprise environment
